Is PKHeX Online the same as PKHeX?
PKHeX Online is a hosted web version that uses the official PKHeX legality engine under the hood, so the Pokémon you build pass the same legality checks as PKHeX on desktop. The big differences: it runs in any modern browser, you don't need a save file or Switch homebrew, and finished Pokémon are delivered to your game through GenPKM's automated link-trade bots. PKHeX itself is the desktop tool by Kurt (kwsch); PKHeX Online is GenPKM's web companion built on top of its libraries.
Do I need to download PKHeX to use PKHeX Online?
No. PKHeX Online is 100% browser-based — no downloads, no installs, and no save file. You build the Pokémon on the page, then GenPKM's trade bot delivers it to your in-game box via a standard Link Trade code.

Species and form, Nature, Individual Values (IVs), Effort Values (EVs), Awakening Values (LGPE) and Ganbaru/Effort Levels (Legends: Arceus), Moves, Ability, Held Item, Level, Nickname, Tera Type (Scarlet & Violet), Poké Ball, OT/TID/SID, met location, met date, shiny status, and Hyper Training flags — the same fields PKHeX itself exposes on desktop.
Are the Pokémon built in PKHeX Online legal?
PKHeX Online runs each Pokémon through the official PKHeX legality engine before trading, so they pass HOME and in-game legality checks. They are not permitted in official Pokémon Company VGC tournaments — the same rule applies to anything built in desktop PKHeX.
Is PKHeX Online free?
Yes. PKHeX Online is free to use with a daily trade limit. Premium memberships unlock unlimited trades, batch trading, and queue priority but the editor itself is free for everyone.
